I’m going to continue to use this as my outlet to express the confusion at my current job situation.

Saturday night, while working a late night shift with what seems to be a case of bronchitis I witnessed some alarming individuals. Namely a grown man asleep on top of a trash can with a half eaten hoagie in his lap and his equally wasted best pal. His best pal who asked me for weed three times and repeatedly tried to blow me kisses while he spilled an entire soda on the ground. ATTENTION GROWN MEN. NO. THESE ARE NOT OPTIONS FOR YOU. PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

Have I mentioned I’m doing this so I can move to LA in 5 months?

I saw The Guilt Trip in theaters over Christmas with my own mother and I cried at least three times. This doesn’t come as a surprise to anybody who knows me since I cry during car commercials. I remember leaving the movie and thinking, “I hope other people took this as seriously as I did.”

A couple weeks ago, I watched it again on a plane ride home and it made me even more emotional. Being an adult and still being your parents’ child is a perpetually odd experience. You somehow catch up with them in age in a sense, and at the same time still know nothing about life in comparison to them. Obviously this is something I don’t like to admit, but it is true. (Que having $5.00 in your savings account, letting a strange man make out with you at a Lady Antebellum concert, etc.)

I think what I found especially touching about the relationship between Streisand and Rogen was no matter how obnoxious she was, it was all coming from a place of love. She wants him to succeed so badly and is doing everything in her power to help him. She is desperately attempting to show him to relax and how just believing in yourself makes a big difference in how your life plays out. I think sometimes it takes observing another relationship (fictional or non-fictional) to get a further appreciation for a relationship you have in your own life.

I suppose what I am really getting at is if we saw ourselves through the eyes of our parents or friends we wouldn’t doubt ourselves as much. It seems as soon as you accomplish one thing or conquer one fear, a hundred things you haven’t accomplished and conquered take its’ place. I’m about to close one chapter of my life, living in Philly for three years, and start a new chapter in Los Angeles. I am for lack of a better term, scared shitless. I feel as if I will completely forget how to drive a car or go on a job interview or meet new people. Instead of dwelling on these among countless others, I am going to take a deep breath and let stuff go. We shall see how well this goes, but for now it is comforting to know at least one person thinks I am capable of much more than I think. And, guess what? So are you.

The Office ending is very bittersweet but always remember these things…

-The Dinner Party is what a perfect episode of television looks like.
-There are a lot of people that deserve a lot of hugs for this show but we should probably be holding weekly parades for Greg Daniels. (Just think about what he has done for your life and TV and start making it happen.)
-Steve Carell never won an Emmy for playing Michael Scott. And that is what kind of world we live in.
